With the opening of the Blackhawk Grille in 1991, a new image for California Cafe was created. This 200 seat restaurant lounge is located in the Blackhawk Plaza Shopping Center, which is also home to the Behring Antique Car Museum, the University of California Museum and a host of retail stores. Central to this upscale restaurant is the display kitchen, with dining areas on wither side which overlook the water feature of Blackhawk Plaza. Curved ceilings over the entry and bar focus the customer’s attention toward the antique automobile on loan from the Behring Museum.
The general contractor for this project was Terra Nova Industries. Interior design was done by Engstrom Design Group.
