Responding to the Santa Rosa City Design Review Panel’s desire for a stand-out design, Hayashida Architects created a rustic storefront for OSH retail chain in Santa Rosa. The exposed wood truss and corrugated siding suggested rural vernacular architecture. Modern lighting and large glass areas gave the store an up-to-date look while achieving optimal in-store visibility from the outside.
This renovation of an existing tilt-up concrete building included a seismic upgrade to strengthen the roof/wall connection. The concrete floor was polished and stained. A mezzanine addition (not shown) made efficient use of the main floor for sales by relocating supporting spaces to the upper level.
